Ogden, Utah. December, 2011:  Universal Synaptics Corp. announced this month that Mr. Jim Cockram and Mr. Giles Huby have been selected as Fellows of the Royal Aeronautical Society. Mr. Cockram and Mr. Huby founded Copernicus Technology LTD an ISO9001:2008 company. Copernicus Technology LTD (CTL) delivers solutions to the No Fault Found (NFF) problem in Aerospace and Defense by utilizing the worlds leading Intermittent Fault Detection (IFD) test equipment manufactured by Universal Synaptics.

The Royal Aeronautical Society is the oldest aeronautics learned society in the world having been established in 1866. Her Majesty the Queen is the Society’s Patron. The guiding principals of the Royal Aeronautical Society are for the advancement of aeronautical Art, Science and Engineering and for promoting that species of knowledge which distinguishes the profession of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The Royal Aeronautical Society has been at the forefront of developments in aerospace since its formation, seeking to:

          - Promote the highest professional standards in all aerospace disciplines

          - Provide specialist information & act as a central forum for the exchange of ideas

          - Play a leading role in influencing opinion on aerospace matters

Fellowship in the Royal Aeronautical Society is the highest grade of membership attainable and is only bestowed upon those in the profession of aeronautics or aerospace who can demonstrate that they meet one or more of the following criteria:

          - Have made outstanding contributions to the industry

          - Attained a position of high responsibility

          - Have had a long experience of high quality

Mr. Cockram and Mr. Huby are both professionally qualified engineers, whose professional status was granted by the Engineering Council and requires accreditation through the relevant professional body. Both Mr. Cockram and Mr. Huby are Chartered Engineers, granted through the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) selection process. Mr. Cockram and Mr. Huby have both served on the RAeS Highland Branch, Mr. Cockram was the Chairman of the Branch from 2001 to 2003 and Mr. Huby served as Branch Chairman from 2005 to 2010. Both still serve on the Branch Committee.

Mr. Jim Cockram’s Fellowship status was awarded due to his 30 years as a technician then engineer; his involvement in the RAeS Highland Branch; his pivotal role in introducing Lean Practices into the Royal Air Force, and his role in founding CTL and for pioneering CTL’s approach to dealing with intermittent / NFF.

Mr. Giles Huby’s Fellowship status was awarded due to his 20 years as an engineer; his involvement in the RAeS Highland Branch; his extensive role is spreading the use of Lean Practices in the Royal Air Force; his role in co-founding CTL and for bringing its pioneering work in intermittent fault detection to the attention of the world through published papers and conference speaking engagements; and his role as a Trustee of the Fresson Trust, a local aviation charity.
