The Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation System (IFDIS) Selected as a "Top 100"

and Receives Honorable Mention in the NASA "Create the Future" Contest

Roy, Utah.  March 2015 – Universal Synaptics Corp. announces that the “Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation System (IFDIS) has been selected as a “Top 100 Entry” and received “Honorable Mention” in the NASA “Create the Future” Contest in the Aerospace & Defense Category.  The Create the Future Contest was launched in 2002 by the publishers of the NASA Tech Briefs Magazine to help stimulate and reward engineering innovation.  The annual event has attracted more than 10,000 product design ideas from engineers, entrepreneurs and students worldwide.  The contest’s principal sponsors are COMSOL and Mouser Electronics with Analog Devices as a supporting sponsor.  The judging panel is made up of 24 NASA Tech Brief’s Editorial Board Members.

“The “Create the Future” Contest provides a forum for the sharing of new product innovations with applications in the aerospace, aviation and defense markets.  To be selected as a “Top 100” finalist and receive an “Honorable Mention” is exciting considering the number of participants and the outstanding technologies the IFDIS was judged against” said Ken Anderson, Universal Synaptics Vice President of Sales & Business Development.  “We continue to be at the forefront of diagnostic innovation and maintenance technologies, we are very proud of our engineering team”.

The Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation System (IFDIS) - A cost benefit of over $62 million has already been realized with an investment of only $2.2 million, yielding over a 28 times Return on Investment (ROI) and growing on just one project. Because of this tremendous success, IFDIS testing is being extended to several other weapon system electronic boxes within the United States Air Force (USAF) and the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

Since 1996, Universal Synaptics Corporation, based in Roy, UT., has been the industry leader in detecting and isolating elusive intermittent faults and solving complex diagnostic and testing problems. Their research into the primary root causes of intermittent / No Fault Found (NFF) problems and the massive digital testing void that exists today with conventional scanning test equipment, led to the development of the patented Intermittent Fault Detector (IFD™).  Solve your No Fault Found (NFF) issues today by calling Universal Synaptics at (801) 731-8508.

The Intermittent Fault Detection & Isolation System (IFDIS™) was selected as the Department of Defense Maintenance Symposium “Great Ideas” Competition Winner in 2010 and 2012 and a “Great Ideas” “Top 5 Finalist” in 2014, a “Top 5 Finalist” in the Office of the Secretary of Defense Maintenance Technology Challenge 2012 and 2013, a “Top 3 Finalist” in the Aerospace & Defense Category of the American Technology Awards 2012, and a “Best of State” Award Winner in 2014 in the “Applied Science & Technology” Category.
